For most legal research projects, you likely have a document with relevant factual or legal background information, which CARA A.I. can use to help you find cases on your legal research topic. The document can be a complaint, brief, or another document from a case you are working on, or a relevant judicial opinion. You can think of CARA as your personal research assistant: upload any document that you think provides good background on the issue you are researching. CARA works with PDFs, text files, and Word documents.

If you don’t have a document, you can still run a keyword search or a Parallel Search to search the millions of legal authorities on Casetext. A brief overview of the different ways in which you can search Casetext is provided here.
