With a few simple clicks, you can leverage Compose's A.I. technology to find cases that support a sentence in your brief using our powerful Parallel search.
Finding Supporting Cases
On Compose, there are two ways to search for cases that you can cite in support of a sentence in your brief. Both methods take you to our Parallel Search engine, which uses A.I. technology to find cases in support of a sentence.
The first way to launch our Parallel Search engine is to click on the "Research" icon that appears in the dark blue menu on the left side of your screen. This will take you to our Parallel Search engine. Enter your search query in the grey box, as shown below. Please enter your search as a complete sentence with a period (.) at the end. Your search results, showing cases that address the issue described in the sentence you entered, will appear below the "Recommended cases" heading. The jurisdiction filter is set to show you cases from the jurisdiction you selected for your motion, but you can see cases from other jurisdictions by clicking on the button that says, "show other jx."
The second way to find cases in support of a sentence in your brief is to launch our Parallel Search engine from within your brief. Use your cursor to select the sentence in your brief that you want to use as your search query. After you select text in your brief, a popup menu will appear. Click on the magnifying glass icon that appears in the popup menu. This will take you to the Parallel Search engine, which will display your search results below the "Recommended cases" heading. As discussed above, the jurisdiction filter is set to show you cases from the jurisdiction you selected for your motion, but you can see cases from other jurisdictions by clicking on the button that says, "show other jx."
