See below for guidance on filtering your search results to specific jurisdictions. To learn how to save such selections, visit this page.

You can filter by jurisdiction before your initial search by clicking on the “All State & Federal” button at the end of the search bar:

Then, check the box(es) next to the jurisdiction(s) you want to focus on. In this example, we have chosen all California state courts, the 9th Circuit, and the U. S. Supreme Court.

Note: By default, Casetext will automatically save your jurisdiction selection and apply it to future sessions. If you do not want a jurisdiction selection to stay with you, uncheck the "Remember Selection" box.

When you’ve selected the jurisdiction(s) you want to focus on, click on the Apply Jurisdictions button in the lower right corner.

Selection Shortcuts

The top of the jurisdiction selection screen gives you the option to select all state supreme courts, all federal circuit courts, all federal district courts, and/or all federal bankruptcy courts:

From the search results page, you can filter by jurisdiction by clicking on the “All State & Federal” button at the end of the search bar and following the instructions for jurisdiction selection provided above.

Clearing a Search

As you have already conducted a search, all previously selected jurisdictions will be enabled. You can quickly clear them by clicking on the “Clear All” links under State (on the upper left) and Federal (on the upper right):

Once you have cleared the jurisdictions, check the box(es) next to the jurisdiction(s) you want to focus on, then click on the Apply Jurisdictions button in the lower right corner.
