Responding to discovery requests is tedious work that is often delegated to junior attorneys and other legal assistants. CoCounsel Core quickly drafts responses so that everyone on your team can avoid hours of copying and pasting.

When CoCounsel is responding to discovery requests, it reads every word of a request, like a request for admissions or an interrogatory, to identify each request and then draft a response. CoCounsel can also consider a database of your trusted discovery responses to inform its work.

CoCounsel responds to requests for admission, requests for production, or interrogatories.

If "None" is selected, CoCounsel will draft a response to each request.

If a database is selected, CoCounsel will use similar responses from your database to draft a response to each instant request.

Add a discovery response database: Go to the left Workspace, select Manage Workspace, and click "Database management." Then click "Create a new database," find "Specialized Databases" and select "Discovery Responses." New databases can also be added from the chat ("⊕ Upload" then "Search an entire database" then "New database.")

Use the party's name rather than roles, like "Plaintiff" or "Defendant."

If responding party remains blank, CoCounsel will attempt to gain context from the caption.

Review any notices.

Open and review the database of your discovery responses (if selected earlier).

Open and review the original request.

Expand the heading for each request CoCounsel identified to review each response.

Copy the response to paste somewhere else.

Manage the examples from your database of discovery responses that were used to draft a request.

Navigate all of the examples used to draft the request, deselect/select examples and select "Redraft," or click to open the example from your database of discovery responses that was used to draft the request.

CoCounsel indicates when it drafts a response without using examples from a database.

Download the results or copy them to paste somewhere else.

Requests and refinements: Other than a discovery response database (optional) and the responding party, this skill does not consider additional instruction to focus CoCounsel's attention.

Handwriting: Generally, if a human can read handwritten text in a file, then CoCounsel should also be able to read it. This means CoCounsel’s ability to read handwritten text can vary, depending on legibility.

CoCounsel will draft a response to every request.
