Narrow your search down to a specific district or department within a state's appellate court using the department: search functionality. Here's how:

  1. Select your desired jurisdiction

  2. Enter your keyword search into the search bar

  3. Place department:{{number}} at the end of your search string

Examples

Example 1: Searching within the Second District Court of Appeal in California

  1. Set jurisdiction to California -> Court of Appeal

  2. Enter your keyword search

  3. Add department:second at end of of search string

Example result:

Example 2: Searching with the Third District Court of Appeal in Florida

  1. Set jurisdiction to Florida -> District Court of Appeal

  2. Enter your keyword search

  3. Add department:third at end of of search string

Example result:

Example 3: Searching within the First Department of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court in New York

  1. Set jurisdiction to New York -> Appellate Division of the Supreme Court

  2. Enter your keyword search
