If you have found a case you would like to save for later, you can bookmark it. This article provides instructions for bookmarking a case, as well as instructions for moving bookmarks and deleting bookmarks.

Bookmarking a Case

To bookmark a case, click on the folder button in the upper left corner of a case page:

A drop-down menu will appear. If you already have bookmark folders, click on the folder where you want to place the case:

Once a folder is selected, the folder icon will turn green to indicate the case has been bookmarked.

Accessing Your Bookmarks

To access your bookmarked cases from the main search page, click on the 'Bookmarks' tab located in the menu bar on the left-hand side of the screen:
โ€‹

This will take you to your Bookmarks page:

You can also access your Bookmarks page from the search results, or any other area of Casetext by clicking on your initials in the upper right-hand corner of the screen, then choosing 'My Bookmarks':

Managing Bookmarks and Folders

Moving Bookmarks

To move a bookmarked case from one folder to another, you must first visit the case page for the bookmarked case that you would like to move. Then, click the folder icon at the top of the case page. That will pull up your list of bookmarks. The folder where your case is currently bookmarked will have a check mark next to it. In the example below, the case of Terry v. Ohio is bookmarked in the "Gary v. Jones" folder, as shown by the checkmark.

To move your bookmarked case, click on the folder where you would like to move your case from the drop-down menu beneath the folder icon. In the example below, we can move the bookmark for Terry v. Ohio to the "Jones v. Smith" folder by clicking on that option. A checkmark will then appear next to the folder you selected:

To remove the old bookmark, click on the folder where your case was originally bookmarked, which will cause the checkmark to disappear. In the example below, we got rid of the old bookmark for Gary v. Jones by clicking next to that folder. Now, the case of Terry v. Ohio is only bookmarked in the new folder of Jones v. Smith. Additional information on deleting bookmarks is provided in the next section of this article.

Deleting a Bookmark

There are two ways to remove a bookmarked case from your bookmarks: on the case page itself, and the "My bookmarks" section of your account.

Deleting a Bookmark from the Case Page

If you've bookmarked a case, the folder icon in the upper left corner of the case page will be green. Click on the icon, then click on the checked folder(s) to remove the case from that folder.

Deleting a Bookmark from "My Bookmarks"

You can access your bookmarks by clicking on your initials in the upper right corner of the screen, then clicking on My bookmarks in the drop-down menu.

Having selected the proper folder on the left-hand side of the screen, click on the three dots next to the bookmark that you want to delete. Then, click "Remove Bookmark".

Renaming or Deleting a Folder

With your Bookmarks page you can select the "Actions" button to either delete or rename the currently selected folder. If you delete the folder, which will require to confirm the action via a pop-up box, you will have the option to "Undo" the deletion for a short period of time by clicking "Undo" in the lower left-hand corner of the screen.

Sorting Bookmarks and Folders

From the Bookmarks page, you have the option to change the order in which your bookmarks and folders are displayed. The default setting is by recency, or when the folder or bookmark was created. If you would prefer to sort your favorites alphabetically, you can do so by clicking on the arrow icons at the top of the folder section and selecting the option "A-Z":

To return to sorting by recency of creation, select the option "Recents".
